October Events at SPORTA 2 quarter

In October, the event season at SPORTA 2 quarter continues with a diverse programme inviting visitors to enjoy contemporary art, take part in educational activities, test their knowledge at quizzes, and experience evenings of improv and comedy. Visitors can explore Krista Vinberga-Auzniece’s art exhibition, discover the work of Latvian poet Imants Ziedonis, put their knowledge and musical memory to the test, and enjoy autumn entertainment. As the month draws to a close, Halloween-themed parties and special events bring a spooky twist to the quarter’s lively atmosphere.

Until 18 October, Kim? Contemporary Art Centre presents “Circles Are Better Than Lines (An Ode to Touch)”, a solo exhibition by artist Krista Vinberga-Auzniece. The exhibition features charcoal drawings depicting fragments of old photographs, offering a quiet meditation on the passage of time, seemingly unfamiliar memories and an almost physical connection with the past.

Throughout October, “Ziedoņa klase” welcomes school groups and teachers to explore its engaging educational programme dedicated to Imants Ziedonis and his work. Activities at SPORTA 2 quarter include the “Ideal Classroom” workshop for teachers, “Culture and Nature” for students in Grades 7–12, and the “Mischief and Fairy Tales” escape game for students in Grades 5–12. Advance registration is required.

“Burbulis” bar invites guests to Cocktail Thursdays throughout October, with drinks for EUR 5 from 7.00 p.m. A lively programme of weekend events awaits, too:

  • Friday, 16 October – DJ Dubra and PM2AM kick off the weekend with a DJ set.
  • Saturday, 24 October – the improv theatre group “Impro Boiz” brings laughter and entertainment with its show.
  • Wednesday, 28 October – the “Pulse” events and live communication forum hosts its afterparty, featuring a DJ and live music.
  • Saturday, 31 October – celebrate Halloween at the spookiest party of the year, featuring Nauris Brikmanis, Arvis Zēmanis and the band “Aizgājēji”.

Quiz season continues at “Zefīrs” gastropub, where friends can put their knowledge and musical memory to the test:

  • Thursday, 15 October – the “Prātu mežģis” quiz challenges trivia enthusiasts.
  • Friday, 16 October – “Lyric Blaster”, a musical game inviting participants to sing, dance and identify song lyrics.
  • 19 and 21 October – “Neprāta spēles” gets participants ready for Halloween with the “Oktobrainis” quiz.

The newly opened event and cultural venue “PAUZE” invites visitors to two evenings of improv and comedy in October:

  • Wednesday, 21 October, at 7.00 p.m. – the show “2×2=Improvizācija”, featuring Mārcis Viļums, Kaspars Breidaks, Dzintars Rožkalns and Valdis Sils.
  • Saturday, 31 October, at 6.00 p.m. – the Halloween-themed comedy event “Šausmīgs vakars”, featuring improv scenes and audience participation.
